March 4th
This past Sunday marked 6 weeks in LA. I can’t believe how fast time has gone by. To be honest, I feel like I have lived here forever. Still no regrets on the move and no feelings of being homesick. I do, however, miss spending time with my girlfriends. This is one area of my life that is lacking.
Maybe I should post an ad on Craig’s list…seeking great group of girlfriends. Socialites and Celebrities preferred. Must have connections to fabulous red carpet events, VIP status at clubs and a keen sense of style. (Maybe I should rethink that posting, otherwise I am guaranteed to be friendless for years.)
It becomes much more challenging to meet people as you get older. In college it was easy. You became friends with people by default (you lived with them, had class with them, etc.). As a grown up, I think you are forced to rely on your workplace for friends.
I am very fortunate! I think there is some great potential for friends at work. I went to happy hour last week with one of the girls on my team. So much fun! It made me realize that I had been hanging around boys (Joe and his guy friends) way too much. It was nice to socialize with someone who did not talk about sports or hot chicks.
Things with the wedding are progressing. Joe and I committed to December 19th. We already sent in a deposit for the reception. We are having it at a hotel in Clayton. (I originally wanted a loft-style space for the reception. I wanted to use my event planning skills and creativity to create a modern, sleek and sophisticated space. BUT the reality of paying for our own wedding totally shot down those plans! Hotel here we come.) I called the bridal store today and ordered my dress! I have never charged something so expensive. Let's just hope I can still fit into the dress I ordered by December. The countdown to the big day has begun (please don’t snow!).
