Everything Happens For A Reason

The theme for this week must be energy. I am starting to believe that how you start your week (either in a positive frame of mind or negative) will determine how the rest of your week will unfold. Yesterday, I had a meeting scheduled with a rep first thing in the morning to discuss marketing. I wasn’t looking forward to the meeting, because I would rather start my day hammering away at my to-do list. The morning hours are my most productive hours of the day. The meeting ended up going well and I think I showed this rep some valuable techniques. I didn’t expect to feel inspired by this rep. We had a great conversation about getting involved in organizations. He is active in some area chambers of commerce and on a board for an upcoming charitable event. He told me that he goes into these organizations in order to make a difference, not to focus on getting sales. I connected with this rep because he understands the importance of giving unselfishly.

I had a meeting with our recruiter later in the day to discuss advertising. I almost feel out of my chair when she talked about her recruiting philosophies and how she believes that everything happens for a reason. Many of my friends and family members have heard me say those same words many times. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. You might not know the reason at the exact time, but if you stay positive and remain open to possibilities the reason will appear.
I feel that I am in the right place. When I moved to LA, I was not sure how things would go at my new job. Things are going better than I expected and I am lucky to be surrounded with other positive people.
Last night I attended the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk Kick-Off party. I was extremely involved with the Arthritis Foundation in St. Louis. I am excited to be working with the organization again. Giving back to the community is extremely important to me. I believe that you have to give to get.

I spoke at last night’s event and shared with the group tips for fundraising. I prepared some notes and had them on the podium. When I got to the podium my notes were gone. I think another speaker must have accidentally picked them up. Slight panic attack! I took a deep breath and just started talking. I shared with the group why I was passionate about the Arthritis Foundation (did you know that kids get Arthritis?) and told them all of the tips I could remember. I know I missed some of my points, but who cares. I feel like I spoke with energy and enthusiasm. Without my sheet of notes, I was able to maintain eye contact with the group instead of looking down and trying to figure out what to say next. Everything happens for a reason. A few people told me that they were energized after my talk and I saw quite a few people leaving the room with the walk material I promoted during my talk.
Energy is contagious. If you are in a positive mood, your positive energy transfers to those around you. I encourage you to surround yourself with positive people. Negative people simply bring you down.

I had a friend ask me what websites I visit for daily inspiration. My answer…none. I am fortunate enough to have something within me that allows me to see the glass half-full (unless it is a great cabernet or pomegranate martini, because those glasses are always half-empty!). If you know of any good inspirational or uplifting websites, please let me know. I would love to pass along the information to my friend.

K- This is my good friend from work's blog site. He is battling cancer and I find inspiration in how strong he has been. Thanks ;-)
